Ci illustra il fenomeno della bioluminescenza una forma di difesa: i predatori infatti associano la luminosità alla non appetibilità dell’insetto. Spiegazione ben lontana dalla caratterizzazione romantica che siamo soliti attribuire noi non esperti in materia.
Bella e coinvolgente la panoramica storica che si fa di questo piccolo insetto, che pare essere stato fonte di ispirazione per la produzione letteraria e poetica già dai tempi di Aristotele. Cosi come e bello scoprire che per esempio le femmine della specie non volano ma sono più luminose dei maschi.
Una panoramica ampia e sfaccettata che ribadisce quanto sia importante la presenza di ogni singolo essere vivente per l’equilibrio in natura e che si chiude con una nota positiva. Le lucciole infatti stanno ripopolando le zone boschive raggiungendo anche la periferia intorno alla città. <br>
E mai come in questo caso, “un barlume di luce si scorge in fondo al tunnel”!
