È un libro”circolare” in cui la storia di base è sempre la medesima, ripetuta per 7 volte. Ad ogni capitolo cresce il numero delle parole, delle pagine, dei personaggi interessati. Si arricchisce la trama e si infittisce l’intreccio.
È un viaggio nel tempo, che corre avanti e indietro e nello spazio temporale, in cui entrano in scena personaggi appartenenti allo scenario immaginario (folletti; streghe; demoni) e personaggi reali (polizia; esercito).
Ogni capitolo è aperto da una breve introduzione che ne prelude il contenuto. Il numero delle parole cresce: ne sono sufficienti 3 nel primo e 129 nel settimo. E anche le parole, scritte a piè di pagina con caratteri grandi e di colore blu, giocano con il lettore, capovolgendosi, cancellandosi parzialmente o del tutto.
Man mano che si legge anche il ritmo diventa più serrato fino a raggiungere il culmine nell’ultimo, il settimo capitolo, quello della strega, quello della notte. Con la risoluzione del conflitto e il dispiegarsi della trama (rappresentato cronologicamente dal trascorrere della notte), le parole scomparse, riappaiono, il ritmo rallenta e con il giorno arriva anche il lieto fine.
Le illustrazioni occupano la pagina quasi per intero, sono semplici ma non per questo banali. I colori utilizzati sono pochi, quasi ci fosse anche in questo caso una volontà di ripetizione. Spicca in ognuna un tocco di arancione fluo che dà ulteriore vigore alla storia.
Questo libro mi ha colpito perché è un bel libro: attira il formato tascabile, la scelta la copertina e la cura del prodotto. Sfogliandolo ne ho apprezzato anche il contenuto, per la sua semplicità, per la costruzione, per la grafica e i colori.
