Sabato 7 Ottobre si svolgerà l’evento pubblico “Cari vecchi Navigli… con visita alla Casa di Alda Merini”, organizzato da Akropolis Milano

Dalle ore 17:30 alle ore 19:15 sarà possibile partecipare ad un tour guidato del Naviglio Grande (Alzaia Naviglio Grande, 20144 Milano), alla scoperta dei luoghi che sono stati importanti dal punto di vista storico ed economico per la città di Milano e per la Lombardia.
I Navigli sono un sistema di canali navigabili, che, costruiti fra il XII e il XIX secolo, metteva in comunicazione il Lago Maggiore, quello di Como e il Basso Ticino; e Milano ne costituiva il punto centrale.
Grazie a questa rete di canali infatti, in cui erano presenti acque costanti, che defluivano con regime regolare, il capoluogo lombardo divenne il punto di passaggio nevralgico fra l’Europa del nord, il Po e il mare. Le aree irrigate divennero a tal punto produttive da consentire un discreto sviluppo economico.
Nel 1928 il Ministro dei lavori pubblici, decise di procedere con la copertura della “fossa interna” , ovvero la Cerchia dei Navigli, che in passato consentiva il funzionamento di questa rete di comunicazione fra il Nord Europa e il Mondo.
Le ragioni furono soprattutto di carattere igienico, date dagli scarichi abusivi, ma anche per questioni legate alla viabilità della città, che necessitava di una rete stradale più articolata.
La copertura venne effettuata tra il 1929 e il 1930, creando un anello di strade che fu chiamato Cerchia dei Navigli.
Nel corso degli anni si è pensato alla possibilità di riaprire questo sistema di comunicazione e di transizione su acqua. Per ragioni economiche qualsiasi proposta, anche di ripristino parziale, non è andata a buon fine.

Il Tour inizierà alle ore 17:30 alla Conca di Viarenna e si concluderà in via Megolfa (durata stimata circa 1 ora e 45 minuti), ove, al civico 32, visse Alda Merini, la poetessa di Milano.
Nel corso della visita si ripercorrerà la storia della città di Milano, dei Navigli con tanto di aneddoti e curiosità.
Il ritrovo sarà in piazza Sant’Eustorgio alle ore 17:30.
