“Tra poco è Natale”… Arriva Dicembre, il mese in cui si celebra la festa più amata da sempre.
E questo è anche il titolo del libro che ci accompagna, attraverso la lettura, alla scoperta del Natale.
Ha l’aspetto di un calendario dell’avvento. È costituito da 24 capitoli, contenenti 24 storie, che seguono il filo conduttore della Festa Santa e conduce alle celebrazioni del 25 Dicembre, al Natale.
Aneddoti, curiosità e storie
Calendario dell’Avvento
Troviamo, ad esempio, un capitolo legato all’Avvento e al Calendario dell’Avvento.
Dopo una breve incursione sul significato, sul senso della parola, scopriamo che il primo calendario nasce in Germania nel ‘300, per opera di una famiglia protestante.
Invece la tradizione del calendario dell’avvento vivente risale al 2005, anno in cui è stato allestito il primo in Svezia nel 2005. Esempio replicato con successo in tutta Europa, in Italia, come a Milano e Torino per esempio.
25 Dicembre
Un capitolo è dedicato a “La data del Natale “, il 25 dicembre, giorno in cui si celebra la nascita di Gesù.
La scelta della data, ci spiegano, è dipesa da una serie di fattori ed è simbolica.
Nessuno è a conoscenza di quale sia quella reale.
La caduta del solstizio d’inverno, periodo in cui le giornate incominciano a allungarsi nuovamente e inizia la rinascita della natura, è stato un elemento importante nella scelta del 25 Dicembre come data per il Natale.
Ma sicuramente la motivazione sottostante più forte è stata la necessità, da parte dei primi padri della Chiesa, di controllare le celebrazioni delle numerose feste pagane che cadevano giustappunto in tale data. Gli antichi Romani celebravano Saturno; gli Egiziani Horus; i Greci Dioniso; i paesi scandinavi Frey. Così nel 336 decisero di renderle cristiane, spostando la data del Natale al 25 Dicembre, cogliendo il significato simbolico di queste rese e trasferendolo in Cristo.
Albero di Natale
“L’albero di Natale”: narra la leggenda legata alla nascita dell’usanza dell’albero come simbolo, considerato per alcuni “pagano”, del Natale.
Una tradizione la vuole legata alla figura di San Bonifacio (723 circa). Recatosi in Germania per predicare il Vangelo assistette ad un miracolo: un giovane, pronto per essere immolato ai piedi della quercia sacra del dio Thor, è salvato da un forte vento, che spazza via tutti gli alberi tranne un piccolo abete, che San Bonifacio indica come nuovo simbolo della pace.
Altri la ritengono legata a Martin Lutero (1500). Una sera di ritorno dalle sue prediche teologiche, attraversando un bosco di abeti, rimane incantato alla vista del luccichio del ghiaccio sugli aghi degli alberi, magia che decide di ricreare nel suo giardino con le candeline accese.
Sta di fatto che la tradizione dell’albero è ormai diffusa in tutto il mondo, e sicuramente uno dei più belli è quello che ogni anno, dopo il Ringraziamento, viene allestito a New York, in Trafalgar Square.
Nel 1982 Papa Paolo Giovanni II ha inaugurato la tradizione di farne allestire uno in piazza San Pietro, accanto al Presepe.
Il Bue e l’Asinello
Tra le figure legate al Natale troviamo il bue e dell’asinello. Ma in pochi conoscono il significato di questi due simboli.
Per alcuni padri della Chiesa il bue, animale mansueto, che porta il giogo e rispetta la regola rappresenta il popolo ebraico. L’asino, indolente e testardo, quello pagano. Come a dire che alla nascita di Gesù ha assistito tutta l’umanità, giudei e pagani.
Molte altre curiosità sono contenute all’interno del libro, alcune delle quali meno “sante” e un po’ più “godereccie”, come la ricetta del Vin Brulé, o la storia della nascita del dolce natalizio tradizionale meneghino, il Panettone (Pan de Toni).
Tra poco è Natale
“Tra poco è Natale “ è un libro che cattura e lo fa sia attraverso la narrazione che con le splendide illustrazioni realizzate da Carlotta Passarini.
Il formato del libro è “importante” e ogni capitolo trova a piè di pagina e per tutta la larghezza dei due fogli, un casellario con 24 finestre, una delle quali è colorata in rosso, e rappresenta nel calendario dell’Avvento, la collocazione temporale di quella storia.
Gli aneddoti e curiosità legate all’argomento del capitolo, sono contenute in riquadri di colori differenti, che, in tal modo, risaltano agli occhi del lettore.
Le figure, accompagnano la narrazione senza prevaricarla e hanno l’aspetto di qualcosa di buono e fanciullesco. I colori con cui sono realizzate sono tenui e sfumati; sembrano acquerelli.
Ricordano le illustrazioni contenute nei libri di scuola, quelle di quando eravamo bambini, il periodo in cui per essere felici bastava veramente poco.
E probabilmente il Natale è la festa più amata anche per questa ragione, perché in questo magico periodo dell’anno, si torna ad essere un po’ bambini, spensierati, leggeri e più “umani”.
