“La Grande Guerra Bianca”, opera di Stefano Torrione e Marco Gramola.
La segnalazione di questo lavoro, che ha catturato la mia naturale curiosità, è arrivata da una cara amica e collega.
Un progetto eclettico, quello di Stefano e Marco, legato alla montagna e ancora in fase di sviluppo.
Stefano Torrione nasce ad Aosta nel 1962.
Dopo aver conseguito la laurea in Scienze politiche decide di dedicarsi alla fotografia, sua grande passione. Diviene così fotografo documentarista. Realizza numerosi reportage, pubblicati su varie riviste italiane ed internazionali.
Negli ultimi anni si è dedicato alle Alpi, dando vita a progetti fotografici importanti, uno dei quali dedicato alla I Guerra Mondiale.
Nell’estate del 2013 sotto la guida di Marco Gramola
(http://www.girovagandoinmontagna.com/ggit/tag/marco-gramola/), presidente della Commissione Storica della SAT (Società degli Alpinisti Tridentini), ha iniziato ad esplorare i ghiacciai e l’alta montagna della zona del Trentino Alto Adige, Lombardia e Veneto, alla ricerca dei segni della Guerra Bianca (1915).
A questa zona Stefano dedica la sua attenzione e realizza l’archivio fotografico più importante nel mondo.
La raccolta del materiale ha dato vita ad una mostra itinerante, organizzata da National Geographic, e giunta alla Fabbrica del Vapore, Milano, nel 2017.

Le fotografie di Stefano hanno catturato in maniera evidente, le tracce della Guerra Bianca. Questo è stato possibile grazie al cambiamento climatico eccezionale, che si venne a creare nel periodo del reportage e che consentì di realizzare gli scatti eccezionali.
Consapevole del fatto che tali segni potrebbero nuovamente scomparire, sommersi dalla naturale forza del clima e della montagna, Stefano ha deciso di dedicarsi ad una nuova impresa: la realizzazione di un libro.
La Grande Guerra Bianca: il Libro
Lancia il progetto “La Grande Guerra Bianca” sulla piattaforma di crowfunding KissKissBankBank, con la volontà di raccogliere i fondi utili per la realizzazione del libro. In questo modo è certo che il frutto del suo lavoro, gli scatti realizzati, saranno visibili a tutti e fissati nel tempo.
Il volume dal titolo “La Grande Guerra Bianca” vedrà la collaborazione di Stefano Cognetti (https://it.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paolo_Cognetti), vincitore del Premio Strega 2017, per la realizzazione della prefazione.
A Diego Leoni (https://premiomariorigonistern.com/sl_SI/vincitore-2017/), premio Rigoni Stern 2017, la cura dei testi.
Stefano Torrione e Marco Gramola, autori del libro “La Grande Guerra Bianca”, racconteranno la loro esperienza al giornalista Enrico Martinet (http://www.letteraltura.it/9917,Ospite.html), che li intervisterà. Oggetto del racconto sarà l’esperienza vissuta nel 2013 lungo il confine Austroungarico.
Un progetto importante che consente di fissare nel tempo un lavoro realizzato con grande fatica e con impegno. Un reportage che racconta i segni tragici di un’epoca, immersi in un contesto naturale tanto bello quanto duro.
Un progetto da sostenere, che coinvolge gli amanti della fotografia, della storia, della letteratura o semplicemente della montagna.
