“Io sto con Vanessa. Quando la gentilezza fa la rivoluzione” di Kerascoët
Inizialmente l’attenzione è colta dal titolo, a caratteri grandi, di colore rosso, che spicca su uno sfondo tenue e timido, come scopriremo essere Vanessa, la protagonista del libro.
Fatto di sole immagini (silent book), in cui le uniche scritte sono quelle della copertina, che sembrano appunto quasi un grido di denuncia contro la violenza di cui si fa portavoce.
È un libro tratto da una storia vera. Racconta una situazione ormai piuttosto comune e frequente nella società moderna, gli episodi di bullismo, in cui ad essere vittime sono spesso i più piccoli.
“Io sto con Vanessa”
La storia è semplice e comune. Una ragazzina timida di nome Vanessa arriva in una nuova scuola. Qui diventa vittima di un bullo. Una sua compagna assiste all’episodio di violenza che fa scappare via la protagonista in lacrime. La testimone della vicenda, preoccupata, decide di non lasciare sola Vanessa e così la va a prendere a casa per accompagnarla a scuola. Durante il tragitto altri bambini seguono l’esempio della compagna coraggiosa e si uniscono in corteo, scortando Vanessa a scuola e sconfiggendo cosi il bullo ma soprattutto l’indifferenza.
Perché ad essere oggetto di discussione non è solo il #bullismo del prepotente di turno, ma anche l’indifferenza dei testimoni che diventano complici della violenza manifesta.
È un libro molto bello oltre che utile (sul fondo si trovano dei consigli per affrontare episodi di bullismo, sia per grandi che per piccini).
Le illustrazioni sembrano acquerelli e sono realizzate da Kerascoët, pseudonimo dietro cui si cela in duo Sébastien Cosset e Marie Pommepuy, autori di numerosi successi come “Beautiful Darkness” (Dolci Tenebre in Italia).
I colori utilizzati per la realizzazione sono per lo più chiari, pastello. Accompagnano la storia, andando dal grigio-azzurro, durante la narrazione della vita quotidiana e virando bruscamente nei toni del rosso e in quelli più cupi, durante gli episodi di aggressione. Per concludersi in un armonico rosa pesca al termine della brutta vicenda.
